ABSTRACT

Introduction: The identification of risk factors for development of chronic kidney disease (CKD) allows the application of therapeutic interventions in earlier phases; therefore, the detection should be focused on the groups of patients at greater risk for developing CKD.
Objective: to detect patients susceptible to CKD by the family medicine specialist nurse in preventive action.
Methods: It was carried out a cross-sectional study of 363 patients with no history of diabetes, hypertension or collagen disease, who were treated in a preventive healthcare service. We performed somatometry, evaluation of renal susceptibility factors, determination of serum creatinine and glomerular filtration rate. Statistical analysis was descriptive with relative and absolute frequencies.
Results: 68% were women and 32% men; 15% reported a familiar history of CKD, 6% had anemia, and 30% had dyslipidemia. With the Cockcroft-Gault, MDRD-4 and F-G2D-EPI formulas, 75% and 80% of patients were identified at stage 1. The most significant renal susceptibility factors were anemia, overweight and obesity.
Conclusions: The intervention of the family medicine specialist nurse in the search for susceptibility factors of renal disease in suspected patients was beneficial for the timely detection of the status of patients.
