Basal cell carcinoma, metatypic: «the great pretender»

ABSTRACT

Metatypical carcinoma, also called basosquamous cell carcinoma, is a tumor that shares clinical and histopathological features with basal and squamous cell carcinomas. Its approximate incidence is 5% within the case of skin cancer. It is more common in men. The diagnosis represents a challenge for the dermatologist, due to its different forms of clinical presentation. In this article we present the case of a 78 year old female patient with a 10 year old thigh tumor.
