Objective: Adopt the WHOQOL for studying the quality of life as related with the health of average-aged women in the Cuban context, from a linguistic and cultural perspective, determine its reliance and validity as to internal consistency, content, construct and feasibility. Methods: For the linguistic adaptation we count on the participation of a group of seven experts with experience in the topic. They participated in the review of the linguistic component adjusted to the Cuban context. The validation of the instrument included its application -in two chances-on a randomized sample of 300 women belonging to the group aged 40-59 years, cared for in Párraga Polyclinic, following WHO recommendations. Results: The instrument was presented changes related with the adjustments for the targeted sex. The instrument is stable regarding time, since a Sperman coefficient was computed as 0.523 (p=0,000), and homogenous, with global a of Cronbach of 0.78, ranging from 0.759 y 0.797. A multi-factor structure was corroborated, with 7 factors, in which the predominating dimensions are: environment, physical health, socials and psychological relations. Conclusions: The instrument WHOQOL meet the requirements of feasibility and validity demanded to be used in the assessment of the average-aged Cuban woman.
