A surgical technique description for the treatment of subungual glomus tumor

ABSTRACT

The glomus tumor is a rare benign vascular tumor derived from the neuromioarterial glomus body. Within its clinical characteristics the triad of sensitivity to cold, intense paroxysmal pain and exquisite location. We describe the clinical case of a 41-year-old female patient with a painful subungular lesion on the thumb of the right hand, clinically and radiologically compatible with a glomus tumor, is described. She is surgically resected with a transungular technique with repositioning of the nail plate, which is described below.
