ABSTRACT

Publications are a source of knowledge which help us improve treatments, carry out medicine based on evidence, for the benefit of patients, as well as the continuous updating of already trained doctors and residents in training. In Mexico, 17,662 scientific articles are published yearly, being second place in Latin America after Brazil and number 28 in the world. There are currently 324 annual publications in medical journals. The number of publications in plastic surgery in Mexico is 27 per year, which places us among the specialties with fewer articles in journals. It is our intention to develop a strategy that is practical, objective and reproductible which motivates residents and doctors to increase the number of scientific publications in our country. We developed an algorithm that will help the residents training increase the writing of scientific articles. We conclude that the purpose is to improve medical care and expand our knowledge as residents, as well as to present internationally our own techniques from our hospital environment, thereby increasing the number of scientific publications.
