ABSTRACT

Objective: Identify the incidence and analyze risk of factors associate with surgical infection wound. Material and methods: Longitudinal, prospective and descriptive research. Included patients undergoing to surgical intervention in the service general surgery of Hospital Regional de Autlan since 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2013 that developed surgical infection site based on criteria of the NOM 26. Statistical analysis was done with Epi info 6. Results: Incidence of infection surgical site was 4.62%. Principal risk factors associate with surgical infection wound were surgical re intervention, grade of contaminated wound, age 70 years or more, emergency surgery, long hospital stay and male sex. Incidence of nosocomial infection was 5.5% and as etiology principal: infection surgical site. Bacteria involved in the infection were negative Gram, principally E. coli. Conclusions: Epidemiologic surveillance must continue to maintain or reduce presentation of surgical infection site.
