ABSTRACTThe induced abortion is probably the oldest and most controversial method of regulating fertility. There is no other elective procedure that has been so debated, that has generated so much emotional and ethical controversy and that has received so much and so constant public attention over time. The practice of abortion is as old as the social organization of human beings; this dependence is given through multiple psychological, cultural and social factors, including religious views, traditions and psychological reaction to the economic and political situation. Prenatal diagnosis includes all methods with which the phenotype or probabilities of the fetal genotype are indirectly investigated. In Cuba there are legal norms that guarantee the legal implementation of abortion before the prenatal diagnosis of congenital malformations incompatible with life. A literature review was carried out with the objective of approach the abortion caused by genetic causes from the historical-religious, legal and bioethical perspectives.
