ABSTRACT

Objective: The effectiveness of the calculation of the creatinine clearance independently in all the bigger adults of the normal value of the creatinine sérica.
Method: Descriptive observational study of traverse court, with the purpose of diagnosing renal insufficiency in elderly, for creatinine clearance in geriatrics service, Hospital Enrique Cabrera, 2014.
Results: In this study the percent of patient masculine it is bigger than the feminine one, prevailing in the understood ages from 70 to 79 years. The arterial hypertension stood out inside the factors of risk associated to the chronic renal insufficiency (RIC). In the nutritional evaluation, the first floor weight occupied the biggest percent, most of the studied patients presented creatinine figures inside normal limits and they presented some grade of RIC.
Conclusions: 79.9 % of the studied patients was diagnosed with some grade of RIC.
