Key words:

SialoTC, mutli-cut, helicoidal tomography, lithiasis in salivery glands.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: If the presence of calculus in the gland is suspected or in the salivary ducts, conventional methods are used, such as: simple X-ray, hialography, “simple” axial computerized tomography and/or “sialo TC”. Ultrasound is a non-invasive diagnosis method, with minimum use in sialolithiasis.
Material and Method: Mutli-cut, helicoidal tomography offers a new alternative: virtual navigation through the salivary ducts. This tool has neither been used for this specific purpose nor have we found previous reference in literature.
Conclusions and Discussion: SialoTC with intracanicular navigation is an alternative offering an accurate diagnosis in the cases of Lithiasis in salivary glands or salivary ducts, which is non-invasive and enables defining the exact location of the stone. This is a an alternative that has not been widely explored or applied, and which is hereby submitted for your consideration.
