ABSTRACT

Introduction: Class III malocclusions present a challenge for clinical management despite having a strong genetic base, these present a multifactorial etiology and must be early diagnosed to achieve success in their treatment and depends on an adequate diagnosis, timely intervention and the collaboration of patients. Clinical case: a 12-year-old female, white patient with a health history who visits the Orthodontic Clinic due to facial deformity and occlusal alterations in which anamnesis appears to be a precursor for maintaining a milk-bottle habit and lingual thrust, having bilateral molar ratio of mesioclusion, diastemas, negative highlight of -0.5 mm at level 11, exceeding 0 mm and discordant with bony bases. A therapeutic modality that combined with a fixed device (synergy system) was applied with the use of a chin rest for the correction of skeletal abnormalities and occlusion. Conclusions: with the treatment, it was possible to reestablish functional and aesthetic dental occlusion as well as a harmonic profile.
