ABSTRACT

Introduction: The interpretation of thyroid and liver echographic imaging presents a particular objection, due to the superposition of structures and obstruction or contamination from devices. Digital global network offers imaging processing programs free of charge, given the scientifically academic interest.
Purpose: To systematize the use of the software echographic imaging processing to increase the amount of information therein and non detectable by the direct and low cost inspection.
Methodology: Nodular thyroid and solid focal hepatic pathology echographic imaging were processed, applying the Image to 3.0 IT software, in a personal computer, using a series of algorithms. Linear filtration (reacting the image, detecting borders, non linear mean, dilation, directional filters), calculation of diameters and bi-dimensional areas, as well as determining densitometry profiles, to increase diagnostic information obtained from images.
Results: The images processed have a superior diagnosis quality, compared to the original one.
Conclusion: It allows processing images digitally, with an objective and fast analysis of injuries with the following advantages: storing, digital access, areas quantification, echosonography for density profile.
