ABSTRACT

Introduction: Renal biopsy is a useful tool in diagnosing benign kidney disease, assessing the extent of kidney damage and is essential for proper treatment selection and prognosis. Objective: To show the usefulness of using renal biopsy guided by USG. Material and methods: Retrospective analysis of patients undergoing renal biopsy at the radiology department, Juarez Hospital of Mexico, from January 2014 to December 2017. Results: The study period included 46 patients, 60% women, diagnostic success was 100%, 0% morbidity and mortality, glomerulonephritis lupica was the most frequent histopathologic diagnosis. Conclusion: Ultrasound-guided renal biopsy is a safe and effective method for diagnosing non-cancerous glomerular pathology.
