ABSTRACT

The glandular odontogenic cyst is a rare pathological entity, with an origin still in debate and a great tendency to relapse. Microscopically, it is difficult to distinguish from the mucoepidermoid carcinoma; however, today we are equipped with diagnostic techniques based on cytokeratins and other markers such as the inhibitor of mammary serine protease (maspin) that are helpful in diagnosis. This paper reports a case of a 39-year-old woman and reviews the diagnostic criteria and treatment modalities reported to date.
