ABSTRACT

The term ICTUS is an universal definition unknown by our sample population study. The terms most often used are heart-attack and stroke. More observational studies with a larger sample population are needed in order to determine the unknowing degree of the term in our Mexican population. This work showed a representative heterogeneous population and the reason why it is necessary to spread the use of the word in our country with the purpose of unifying terms when referring to cerebrovascular disease, as well as recommended leaving behind variable terms that confuse the general public, especially clinicians.
