ABSTRACT
Introduction: The professionalization process of both the teaching staff of Medical sciences in general, and the professionals who work in "Pedro Kouri" Institute of Tropical Medicine, develops competences in the pedagogical professional performance.Objective: To present competences for the pedagogical performance in the context of acting of professionals of "Pedro Kouri" Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK).
Material and Methods: Historical-logical methods were used; the documents review facilitated the study of the indicator variables in the initial characterization (2004) and the final validation (2014) from institutional evaluation, and systematization.
Results: Postgraduate Education in the IPK uses an approach closer to the human being as part of its evaluation, which opposes other positions from the professionalization process. It improves pedagogical professional performance of the teaching staff in Medical Education, and has an important role regarding academic organization. The objectives of the professional pedagogical activity are organized, planned, implemented, and evaluated as part of the process, as well as the professionalization levels achieved in continuous and permanent education, which the competence of the person reflects.
Conclusions: Institutional evaluation of postgraduate education in the IPK becomes a necessary referent from academic management; it is both instrument and process for the pedagogical performance in the context of acting of professionals in "Pedro Kouri" Institute of Tropical Medicine.
