ABSTRACT

Modern universities face serious challenges to fulfill their social mission due to the changes caused by globalization. This paper aims at: describing elements present in the Medical Sciences University of Havana, through a brief historical recountal of the teaching of medicine in Cuba, in order to describe the functions, challenges, beneficial elements and the system of educational influences towards the comprehensive training of health professionals in the Medical Sciences University of Havana.
