ABSTRACT

Health care protocols must be corresponded to the health needs of greater demand in the services of the assistential units. These constitute common guidelines for actions among professionals from the nephrology service at “Arnaldo Milián Castro” Clinico-Surgical Provincial Hospital. Important viral infections occurred in hemodialysis units; hepatitis C stands out among them due to its repercussion on patients included in the Kidney Transplant Program; that is why a diagnostic and therapeutic protocol was designed in order to standardize the behavior of the medical staff and the health service personnel.
