ABSTRACT

Multiple pregnancies are classified as high risk because of the complications that can affect the mother and fetuses. Multiple pregnancies are associated with hypertensive disorders, gestational diabetes mellitus, anemia, premature birth, prepartum and postpartum hemorrhages and maternal death.
It is important to establish the diagnosis in the first trimester, ultrasound allows to diagnose the number of multiples, chorionicity and amnionicity, The most common complication of multiple pregnancy is preterm birth.
