Training in technologies of information and communications of the human resources in the National Institute for Workers' Health of Cuba

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The computerization of society is a policy of the Cuban State and its Ministry of Communications. That is why the National Institute for Workers' Health (INSAT) of Cuba is inserted in this process and is directed to respond taking into account the acquisition, renewal of equipment, safety and sustainability. Objective: To respond some insufficiencies still presents in the use of the new technologies of information and communications in this center, so that the training of the human resources. Material and method: It was part of the INSAT computerization strategy and an observational and descriptive study was carried out. We worked with a sample to collect information; we used the survey and scientific observation. With these data collection instruments, the main shortcomings in the use of the technologies of information and communications were identified, and it also allowed for the elaboration of a proposal for actions that is systematically implemented. Results: Actions for training of the human resources involved in the research, demonstrating in the investigative, administrative and teaching processes, which is evidenced in different departments among them: Human Resources, Library, Physiology, Physical Risks and Psychology, among others. Conclusions: The training of human resources in INSAT is now a process and result in which progression is evidenced. The planned actions are systematically undertaken for their achievement. It is important the staff's interest in achieving significant achievements in the use of these technologies in each of the investigative, teaching and administrative processes that are developed in INSAT and with that to achieve a superior professional development.
