ABSTRACT

Introduction: to evaluate the development of the National Program of Natural and Traditional Medicine every year a set of parameters is measured compliance with the production plan, prescription of natural medicines, use of acupuncture and related techniques, research, promotional activities, among others that make it possible to know the progress, achievements and difficulties in their progress, as well as the degree of satisfaction of the population. Objective: to evaluate the degree of satisfaction of the population in the department of Natural and Traditional Medicine. Method: a longitudinal descriptive observational study was carried out in the department of Natural and Traditional Medicine of the Federico Capdevila Polyclinic of Boyeros municipality, from January 2017 to December 2017. The universe consisted of 500 patients. A structured questionnaire was used for the interview. The defined scale was designed from a perspective of frequency of occurrence of the item being evaluated (never, almost never, sometimes, always.) Results: the age group of 60 years and over predominated, of the female sex with an occupational category of workers and a degree of pre-university education. Patients received medical attention between 15 and 30 minutes after arriving at the center. A large majority do not need an indication of allopathic medication as well as the indication of supplements. Conclusions: the most used techniques were; Acupuncture, electro acupuncture, moxibustion, and auriculotherapy. The majority of the patients had a rapid remission of the symptoms of the treated diseases and the patients expressed satisfaction with the medical care provided in the Natural and Traditional Medicine Service of the Federico Capdevila Polyclinic.
