ABSTRACT

Viral infections in pediatric patients result in a rise morbility and mortality (the last, mainly in the immunocompromised children), beside to high cost in medical care. All infants and children (who are previously healthy or are immunocompromised) may have viral illnesses severe enough to require care in the pediatric intensive care unit. Children immunocompromised are most susceptible to develop more severe local or/and disseminated viral disease. This review describe the use of antiviral agents in the different diseases caused mainly for the herpesvirus family, and certain viral respiratory infections, which are been common cause of consultation in the pediatric clinical practice. The purpose of this issue is than the pediatrician consult have an tool when he need select something treatment.
