ABSTRACT

During the first week, attention to high- risk newborn´s defines their neurological development. Few years ago, in order to unify treatment criteria of the matter, Intensive Care Program for high- newborns neurodevelopmental risk in Holguín, Cuba, was established. From February 2013 to August 2014, at the Pediatric Hospital Intensive Neonate Care Unit: the Early Attention Protocol for newborns with high neurodevelopmental risk, was practiced for the first time. Basis were obtained by reviewing published investigations, together with the expertise of the authors and specialized personnel. It also led the protocol at the Intensive Neonate Care Unit at Lenin Hospital, and the Neonatal guard at the Pediatric Hospital.
