ABSTRACT

A number of 150 patients were examined in the ophthalmic consultation from Camajuaní municipality between November, 2015 and February, 2016; from them, 106 known diabetics and 44 diagnosed in this consultation. A high number of unexamined patients was found, and all of them had at least one of the ocular alterations caused by the disease. It was proved the importance of identifying risk factors, as well as, making an early diagnosis and an adequate follow-up of diabetes mellitus.
