Parathyroid Adenoma is a non-cancerous tumour of the parathyroid glands, which causes an increase in the levels of parathyroid hormone. This hormone is responsable for regulating the levels of calcium, phosphorus and vitamin D in the blood and bones. Its classic triad is characterized by increased levels of parathyroid hormone, hypercalcaemia and hypophosphatemia.
thisentity is the main cause of primary hyperpara thy roidism in 85% of the patients. Standard treatment is surgical following case is from a 52-year-old female patient presenting primary hyperparathyroidism, secondary to a parathyroid adenoma, which was resolved after performing parathyroidectomy surgery.
