ABSTRACT

Chlorpromazine is an antipsychotic that has been been used since the 1950s. The development of a blue-gray pigmentation as a side effect induced by phototoxicity has been described. Fluphenazine is a product derived from phenothiazides that appears to be up to 40 times more potent than chlorpromazine.
This case is about a 55 year old patient diagnosed with undifferentiated schizophrenia who is undergoing prolonged treatment with these medications. She presented to our service with a blue-gray hyperpigmentation in exposed areas and a striking corneal pigmentation. Other causes were ruled out.
