ABSTRACT

A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out in the municipality of Manzanillo with the objective of determining the morphostereological characteristics of the placentas from hypertensive pregnant women with simple pregnancy, in the Mother and Child Hospital Fe del Valle Ramos, in the period January 2016 - January 2017. universe was constituted by 16 placentas of hypertensive pregnant women with simple pregnancy. The morphostereology was used and the variables were analysed: weight, volume, presence of calcifications, placental infarction and retroplacental hematoma, type and number of villi. The results are shown in absolute numbers, percentages, arithmetic mean and standard deviation according to the variables under study. The placental lesions found interrupted the transfer of substances through the placental membrane. Hypertension has a negative impact on the morphostereological pattern of the placentas studied. Placental weight and volume in most hypertensive pregnant women with simple pregnancy are below the established normal values. The most common placental lesions are calcifications followed by placental infarction. The number of villi was lower in the corial layer when compared to the subcorial and basal strata.
