ABSTRACT

Chronic mucormycosis infection is a rare disease with few case reports, it is progressive with a bad prognosis with ease in dissemination which cause tissue necrosis.
Case: We present a case of a 57-year-old man with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, who arrived with facial pain and ulceration on the palate with one month of evolution. Through a histopathological examination, the diagnosis was made and chronic mucormycosis was reported, which the patient had a successful response to treatment.
Conclusion: Chronic presentation is rare and requires a high clinical suspicion to give timely treatment, which should be based on the three basic pillars: amphotericin, aggressive surgical treatment and metabolic control.
