ABSTRACT

Venous aneurysms in the upper extremities are extremely rare, with only a handfull of cases reported in the literature to date because of uncommon presence, low symptomatology or even become asymptomatic, but complications potentially dangerous, hence the importance of knowledge. This case report presents a patient with true aneurysms, at axillary veins level, clinically diagnosed with imaging studies such as Doppler ultrasound and phlebografhy showed aneurysmal dilatations at both axillary veins level, without the presence of thrombosis and managed with a surgical approach as a definitive treatment, performing a terminal-terminal anastomosis with axillary vein and basilic vein. Histopathology revels a decrease in density of the elastic fibers, and fibrosis of tunica media, with areas in which the fibrous tissue replaces the tunica media, evidenced by the absence of muscle tissue in the venous wall.
