ABSTRACT

Introduction. One of the requirements in endodontic therapy is to achieve a proper three-dimensional obturation of the root canal system. With which an efficient apical seal is obtained that avoids the microfiltration responsible for the failure of the treatments. Objective. To evaluate the apical sealing in endodontic seals using the aggregated trioxide mineral sealant (MTA Fillapex®) and calcium hydroxide sealer (Sealapex), combining them with the thermoplastic condensation technique and single cone. Materials and methods. Unirradicular teeth were selected, which were classified into four groups. 48 hours were stored in 2.5% sodium hypochlorite solution. They were kept in flasks with physiological solution, until the moment of the study execution. Results. It is indicated that there is a statistically significant difference in the apical microfiltration between the techniques using single cone with Sealapex cement and the single cone technique with MTA Fillapex®. Discussion. Some authors have reported that the injection of thermoplastic gutta-percha at low temperature reaches a level of sealing of the conduit similar to that obtained with the technique of cold lateral condensation. The results of this study are similar.
