ABSTRACT

Introduction: Hypertension cannot be considered an isolated entity and because of its natural evolution it increases the risk of developing lesions in different organs, producing physical impairments or death. Among its target organs are the kidneys, which usually develop a hypertensive nephropathy.
Objective: To identify the risk factors that increases the probability of suffering from hypertensive nephropathy in patients from Jimmy Hirzel Policlinic in Bayamo, 2016.
Materials and Methods: An observational analytical study of cases and controls was carried out on patients diagnosed with hypertension assisted in Jymmy Hirzel Policlinic´s GPO 49, from January 1st, 2016 to December 31st 2016. Patients were selected using a simple randomized sampling according to the proportion 1:2 (90 cases/180 controls).
Results: Among the demographics factors, age of 65 years or older, multiplies by twice the risk of developing hypertensive nephropathy, the hemodynamic factor with higher relevance was the uncontrolled hypertension which increases the probability of suffering from hypertensive nephropathy in 5.324 times (IC: 3.075-9.205; p: 0,000). Microalbuminury and uric acid were the most important biological matchers (OR: 8.50; IC: 2.964-24.378; p: 0.002) y (OR: 3.910; IC: 1.595-9.836; p: 0.002).
Conclusions: The higher importance factors for the development of hypertensive nephropathy were the variables dependent of hypertension and microalbuminury.
