ABSTRACT

Phleboliths are idiopathic calcifications of thrombi. In head and neck they are often associated with vascular lesions, which are classified into two clinical entities: hemangiomas and vascular malformations. Phleboliths may have a similar sialoliths image, however, these are usually unique, if multiple, are oriented in a straight line. Instead, multiple phleboliths are randomly distributed. Three cases of patients treated in the Maxillofacial Surgery Medical Center presented «Lic. Adolfo Lopez Mateos» in Toluca City, State of Mexico. These patients were treated because they had a vascular malformation in the cervical region (two in mental region and one in masseteric region) which were associated with calcified lesions. Cases based its initial infiltration of sclerosing treatment and subsequently its consistent surgical treatment of surgical excision under general anesthesia are presented. These calcified lesions are reported as rare in the maxillofacial region. So the aim of the study is to describe three cases of patients diagnosed with phleboliths Medical Center in «Lic. Adolfo Lopez Mateos» of the city of Toluca.
