ABSTRACT

Introduction: There are different techniques for the evaluation of manual force, the evaluation of isometric force by means of dynamometry is an objective tool for its evaluation. General objective: To determine the normality values for the isometric force of coarse manual grip of the Mexican population of working age, by means of dynamometry. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional, descriptive, observational study, with a safe sample Zα of 90% (143 healthy subjects: 71 men, 72 women), with age between 18-65 years and Mexican nationality. The isometric force of manual coarse grip was measured in Newtons-meter by means of dynamometry and the «grip» tool, recorded in the preestablished computerized program of the Baltimore-Primus Therapeutic Team, with the average of three tests, prior registration of age, sex and dominance in the recollection card. Statistical analysis: central trend measures and percentiles graph. Relationship between variables and Student t test (SPSS Statistic 20). Results: The average isometric strength in men is 12.66/10.30 Nm (dominant/non-dominant hand) and in women is 5.69/4.98 Nm. Conclusion: Male subjects are stronger. The strength in the dominant hand is greater in both sexes. There is significant relevance in the age/force ratio in women (p = 0.024/0.040).
