ABSTRACT

Introduction: entering into the assessment of a program requires knowing the opinion of the users and the security or tangibility of the services offered.
Objective: to assess the satisfaction of users and providers of the community care sub-program for the elderly at Hermanos Cruz and Pedro Borras Astorga polyclinics in Pinar del Río municipality.
Method: a study was carried out in the field of health systems and research services, in the aforementioned polyclinics, during July 2014-2015. The target group of the study was comprised of the 36 705 elderly who are treated in Pinar del Río municipality, distributed in 4 polyclinics and 192 Family Doctors’ and Nurses’ offices. For the assessment of user satisfaction, 190 old people were selected by random-simple sampling. The satisfaction of providers was carried out with the 20 doctors and 20 nurses who worked in the doctors’ offices chosen for the assessment of the medical records.
Results: in general, the satisfaction of users and providers revealed dissatisfaction with the subprogram. This shows us the poor satisfaction with the attention and activities related with users and providers.
Conclusions: the satisfaction of users and providers with the services provided by the community care subprogram of the elderly at the primary level of care revealed dissatisfaction, which is why it is necessary to establish strategies that entail raising it.
