ABSTRACT

Introduction: Nodular fasciitis is a rare benign entity, composed of fibroblasts and myofibroblasts that can originate in any soft tissue of the body, the affection to the neck represents 10 to 20%, it manifests as a swelling of rapid growth, in most cases there is tumor regression and sometimes complete surgical resection is necessary to prevent relapse. We present the case with the aim of reviewing current concepts. Clinical case: A 21-year-old woman with no relevant history, a nubile woman with large neck mass, with an initial inconclusive histopathological diagnosis, was decided to undergo resection by cervicotomy and sternotomy, the surgery was R1. The pathology report concluded with cervical nodular fasciitis. Their follow-up was lost due to management in another hospital unit. Conclusion: The recognition of this entity is essential to include it in the differential diagnoses of neck mass.
