ABSTRACT

Pulmonary embolism, in the company of deep vein thrombosis, forms a high morbidity and mortality framework called venous thromboembolism. Pulmonary embolism (PE) has been classified as a major problem in health, since it presents with nonspecific clinical manifestations and is associated with diagnostic errors, or it may pass undiagnosed until the death of the patient. Electrocardiographic studies are not useful to establish a diagnosis of this identity, although its greatest utility is to rule out differential diagnoses, some findings are common and may guide the clinical assessment. An electrocardiographic case of PE is presented; the most common findings will be discussed, as well as its sensibility and specificity in this pathology.
