Importance of the Timely Detection of Basal Cell Carcinoma. Report of a Reconstruction Case with Local Flaps

ABSTRACT
Lips are very important structures mainly due to its functionality
followed by its aesthetics. When facing severe lip alterations,
it’s important to preserve a good quality of life. Surgical management
of this area its important because of the psychological
impact of the affected patient.
A 54-year-old male patient attend complaining of lower lip
mass. A surgery was scheduled to remove the tumor. A Karapandzic
right side flap of the affected area and Estlander left
side flap were used to cover the defect.
A good surgical indication allows us removal of the tumor
with optimal reconstruction. The lower lip tumors in an advanced
stage constitute a major challenge for the surgeon. The
plastic surgeon an important role to achieve a functional and
cosmetic reconstruction of these patients.
