ABSTRACT

Introduction: attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder of high prevalence in pediatric age; caregivers of children and adolescents with this condition require psychoeducation. Objective: to design software that, from psychoeducation, contributes to the care of primary caregivers of children and adolescents with this disorder in the Municipality of Santa Clara. Methods: a descriptive, longitudinal and a prospective study was carried out with qualitative-quantitative methods in Health Areas of the Municipality of Santa Clara between January 2016 and April 2017. The population consisted of 49 primary caregivers attending the Multidisciplinary Consultation of neurodevelopmental disorders of the Chiqui Gómez Lubián Polyclinic; a sample of 19 caregivers was selected by simple random sample. The data was processed in frequencies and by hundreds. Results: of caregivers, 78.94% were mothers and 10.52% were grandmothers, 52.63% showed a medium capacity for adaptation and coping, and 68.42% were not satisfied with the received preparation to provide care to your family member. Among the most affected dimensions of quality of life, affectations in emotions and behaviors were identified as well as in rest and sleep. Conclusions: a software was designed, from psychoeducation, to contribute to the care of primary caregivers of children and adolescents with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder of the Municipality of Santa Clara based on the adaptative modes described by Callista Roy.
