ABSTRACT

Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations consist of abnormal communications between the pulmonary arteries and the pulmonary veins; they are also known as pulmonary arteriovenous fistulas. They can be congenital or acquired, being a rare cause of nodular images in plain radiography and tomographic studies, among others. The treatment should be directed to the prevention of the serious complications that this etiology presents. In this article we will review topics such as clinic, diagnosis, treatment and complications.
