Preeclampsia-eclampsia, fetopathy by preeclampsia-eclampsia.

ABSTRACT

It is considered fetopathy by preeclampsia-eclampsia (FPE) to the group of alterations that presents the newborn from a mother with preeclampsia-eclampsia. These alterations can rebound on the growth, development and homeostasis of the product in the fetal life, during the childbirth work, in the neonatal period and to long term. Another factor that can be significant is the effect of the multiple medications administered to the mother. The preeclampsia-eclampsia at world level is observed in 5-9% of the pregnancies and is five to six times more frequent in the first pregnancy; is observed in 14-20% of the multiple gestations; in 30% of the women with uterine anomalies; in 25% of the patients with hypertension or chronic renal failure. Regarding eclampsia it happens a case in each 2,000 pregnant. It is also commented that in the woman with repetition of preeclampsia-eclampsia a recessive gene probably exists. The different complications that mother’s son can present are analyzed in the prenatal stage (intrauterine growth retardation, fetal death, hypoxia), to the moment of the childbirth (asphyxia, death), in the immediate neonatal (born prematurely, respiratory distress syndrome, meconium aspiration syndrome, acute hypoxic encephalopathy, peri-intraventricular hemorrhage) and long term (neurological sequels). Finally the current medical management is commented.
