ABSTRACT

Infantile mistreatment engrosses all types of physical mistreatment including sexual abuse, emotional, oversight, negligence and accidents when they are preventable. The aim of this work was to establish the presence of the infantile mistreatment and its classification according to the established standards in patients who come to paedriatic consultation. A descriptive prospective study of infantile mistreatment was done, of 6 patients between 1 and 13 years old of both sexes were brought to the pediatric assistance by their parents or another relative in the first six month of the year 2018.All the patients attended the consultation for remote causes to a mistreatment, which was detected by means of questions and answers or physical examination. The masculine sex predominated (83 %). There were three patients with mistreatments of intentional way one for of undetermined cause, another one, not intentional, and the other one by negligence. Conclusions: There were difficulties in the detection of the infantile mistreatment; due to the denial of the relatives in charge of the care of the infants. Only one of the three intentional cases could be reported to the authorities.
