ABSTRACT

With the contemporary rise of new paradigms in medical sciences, such as personalized Medicine, a more effective oncological resection is sought: with new surgical margins according to the tumor stage. The biotechnological advances in Cuba have allowed the development of leading drugs in the word, like Nimotuzumab, a monoclonal antibody against the receptor of epidermal grow factor. This receptor is highly expressed in several malignant tumors of epithelial origin. By labeled it with a radioisotope can help the surgeon in the precise determination of the tumor extension (radiolabeled) of these neoplasms during the surgical act.
