ABSTRACT
Introduction: Primary omentum tumors include: leiomyoma, leiomyosarcoma, fibroma, fibrosarcoma, hemangioma, lipoma, liposarcoma and mesothelioma. Hemangiomas are the rarest and are benign vascular neoplasms. The objective is to present a case of intestinal occlusion due to cavernous hemangioma of the greater omentum.
Clinical case: Male of 14 years with acute abdominal periumbilical pain, of three days of evolution with high intensity. X-ray of the abdomen with dilated small bowel loops and presence of hydro-aerial levels. A laparotomy was performed, finding a tumor in the greater omentum, which caused intestinal obstruction. Histologically diagnosis of cavernous hemangioma was made.
Conclusion: omental hemangioma is a rare tumor that should be considered as a differential diagnosis.
