ABSTRACT

Trichilemmal carcinoma, is also known as tricholemmal carcinoma and tricholemocarcinoma. It is a neoplasm that develops from the outer roots heath of the hair follicle, its histogenesis remains unclear, and the main risk factor is sun exposure. It develops most commonly on sun-exposed skin of the face in elderly. The clinical features can be variable, papule, ulcer or nodule as well as a tumoral aspect.
Clinical course is chronic and has a low index of metastases. There are successful treatments with wide local excision and Mohs micrographic surgery.
We report a case of a 73-year-old male with a four-month evolution scalp ulcerative lesion, with histopathological diagnosis of trichilemmal carcinoma.
