ABSTRACT

Introduction: The complex environmental situation, the scourge represented by drug addictions and addictive behaviors are current issues for the health team that treats addictions and drug addictions, which must master the theoretical foundation of current environmental conceptions, apply them in practice to promote responsible actions and nurture on their benefits.
Objective: To analyze criticizely the environment education contributions' the addiction area and drug-dependence.
Development: Environmental education aimed at the acquisition of knowledge, habits, abilities, capacities, attitudes and the formation of values is also an ethical movement and a new paradigm in the conception of the human being. Drugs and addictive behaviors are environmental hazards, pollute the human organism and the environment, and are incompatible with sustainable development. Restorative practices in the environment generate psychological restoration and they are allied with prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.
Conclusions: Environmental education contributes to the human improvement and professional performance of those who work in the field of addictions and drug addiction. It provides new knowledge on current issues applicable in the care work, and enriches therapeutic and rehabilitative heritage together with the adoption of a new ethics also applicable in the community prevention of that harmful scourge, as a contribution to the desired quality of life and efforts to achieve sustainable development.
