ABSTRACT

Introduction: the University of Medical Sciences of Villa Clara has had prestigious professionals, among them Dr. Edgar Francisco Romero Monteagudo, Specialist in Clinical Psychology and a great pedagogue. Objective: to assess Dr. Edgar Romero's contribution to the development of medical teaching. Method: a documentary research was conducted using the theoretical level method and the historical-logical method for the study of the chronological succession of events in his life, as well as empirical methods, documentary analysis (of scientific documents, curriculum vitae, photos, recognitions, diplomas, work record and publications) and interviews granted by the professor. Development: results were obtained from which a material was elaborated on the professional life of Dr. Romero as a teacher of Medical Sciences. Dr. Romero's extensive and fruitful professional work had a positive influence on the development of medical teaching at the University of Medical Sciences in Villa Clara. Conclusions: the example and teachings of the professor contributed to the formation of several generations in the field of Cuban public health.
