Introduction: Within the causes of traumatic death, death by road kill has increased recently; however, its trend and statistical data in the Veracruz-Boca del Río metropolitan area in recent years is not known.
Objective: To determine the incidence of death due to run over in the cases admitted to SEMEFO due to traumatic death in the years 2014-2015
Methodology: In this retrospective observational study, we analyzed cases admitted to the forensic medical service (SEMEFO) with the diagnosis of traumatic death, specifically run over in the years 2014 and 2015.
Results: There were 849 traumatic deaths between 2014 and 2015, of which a total of 129 deaths were due to run over. The months in which there was the highest number of cases due to running over were December, October and November. The male sex was the most frequent. The incidence peaks were in the ages of 16 to 20 years, 26 to 30 and 61 to 65 years. The most fatal fatal injury was head trauma (62% in 2014 and 64% in 2015).
Discussion: The data obtained in this investigation show concordance with what was analyzed in the world literature, demonstrating that it is a great public health problem.
