Strategic evaluation Chagas disease program.

ABSTRACT

The objective of the present investigation is the evaluation of the Chagas disease program in Nayarit, Mexico. Methodologically, the strategic planning is used to evaluate the achievements of the program itself, which is in charge of the Department of Vectors and Zoonoses of the Subdirectorate of Prevention and Control of Diseases of Health Services of the state of Nayarit, who assumes the functions of Rector and coordinates the Works of the public and private institutions of the state health system.
With data obtained in the positioning matrix, Chagas disease program is located in quadrant number VIII, presented by an average competitiveness (2.39) and low attractiveness (1.96).
The recommendation of the methodology itself suggests restructuring or eliminating program operations. Change to more attractive segments or prepare to eliminate the program and install a new one. In conclusion we recommend: 1) Restructure and Strengthen Institutional coordination of the Chagas disease program in Nayarit; 2) Restructure the methods of intentional search for the disease; 3) Strengthen the management and administrative management in the institutions of the State Health System in relation to the surveillance and medical care systems of Chagas disease.
