Upper semicircular canal, Vertigo.

ABSTRACT

In 1998 Minor et al described the dehiscence syndrome of the upper semicircular canal as a pathology whose manifestations include vertigo or oscillopsia caused by intense sounds and/or pressure transmitted from the external ear to the inner ear or by Valsalva maneuvers. Although most patients describe vestibular symptoms, there are cases with an initially auditory clinical presentation. The diagnostic suspicion is clinical and confirmed by computerized axial tomography. The treatment can be conservative or surgical when the pathology is incapacitating, an atypical clinical case is presented.
