Duplication of the patella, bipartite ball-point.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The duplication of the patella is a rare pathology with less than 30 cases reported. Clinical case: Male patient, 30 years old, with pain in the anterior aspect of the left knee with less than one month of evolution, without significant antecedents. Magnetic resonance of the knee was performed, showing an image with bone density, well defined in femoropatellar joint space in its upper portion, with cartilage on its posterior side, suggesting duplication of the patella. Conclusions: The duplication of the patella is a very rare pathology, its knowledge, its classification and adequate characterization is important for its proper management and surgical planning.
