ABSTRACT
Kidney transplant is the best treatment for patients with end stage renal disease. The clinical and surgical complexity in the waiting list patients is higher and the chance of a heterotopic kidney transplant is not always feasible. We present a case of a 28-year male that underwent a living related orthotopic kidney transplant due to vascular access failure. The case was about a young patient with multiple comorbidities (catheters, peritonitis, infections, femoral thrombosis, superior vena cava stenosis) that made vascular access complicated prompting to use right side for hemodialysis catheters, making heterotopic kidney transplant the last choice for transplant. The surgery was eventually successful.
